TRACKLISTING The Moon And The Yew Tree / Time Of The Wolf
Despite sporting a long hair and unkempt beard combination that your average hobo would perhaps dismiss as rather scruffy, Wojtek Godzisz is a singer/songwriter capable of banging out the odd stellar pop tune or two. As former songwriter with teen indie rockers Symposium, Godzisz is here striking out as a solo artist in his own right, replacing the old punk pop stylings with a more heart-warming and considered approach to songwriting.
THE MOON AND THE YEW TREE finds Godzisz swinging towards the noisier alt-rocking, delivering a sound that falls somewhere snugly between The Arcade Fire and Beck; acoustic guitars strummed besides rolling organ crescendos, Gregorian chanting and Balkan folk outbursts, decidedly offbeat to say the least. Flipside TIME OF THE WOLF, sees Godzisz ditching the acoustic troubadour route altogether, instead opting to mind meld Weezer and former band Symposium into some punk popping hot rocking three minute eruption.
Wojtek Godzisz is someone who continues to beguile and intrigue, THE MOON AND THE YEW TREE proving to be his most enigmatic and engaging moment to date.
BIOGRAPHY
Formerly the main songwriter and a founding member of late ’90s teen punk tearaways Symposium, Wojtek Godzisz was coaxed out of self-imposed exile to sign to Tigertrap Records in 2006. Less punky, more heartachingly infectious, his new material is a triumphant step forward.
