TRACKLISTING
Half-Life Far Side Of The Tracks Last Day Of Winter Hush Now Rusting Cars & Wildflowers A Field Piano Dust Endless Summer Lost The High Crash Premonition Dusk Panorama Long Wave Afterglow
Recalling the restrained atmospherics and moody ambience of artists like Harold Budd, Brian Eno and Labradford - Vector-Lovers sculpt atmospheric ambient soundscapes from the starkest of arrangements and subtlest of nuances.  Their album AFTERGLOW is more an aural journey than your conventional song based record - each track acting as a continuation of the next, moving you slowly forward through a moody and dark musical landscape.
The opening track HALF LIFE sets a tone that permeates the next forty minutes or so, gentle synth textures and skeletal beats that soothe as much as they unsettle - a hypnotic and dreamlike musical landscape which nods towards the dark and menacing at times, albeit dark and menacing from a safe distance.  At times resembling Sigur Ros without the heartbreaking intensity and tear-jerking mood swings, Vector-Lovers are a more settled experience - their music acting more towards languidity.
CRASH PREMONITION sounds like the Postal Service collaborating with the Boards Of Canada, fragile soft spoken vocals rubbing up against cool synth washes and clickety beats; Vector-Lovers putting some heart and soul into a genre know for its coldness and detachment.  DUSK PANORAMA is another moodily atmospheric slice of dark electronica, bubbling bass rumbles cascading against delicate beats; title track and closing number AFTERGLOW meanwhile climaxes things with a dreamily intoxicating sheen, Vector-Lovers wringing genuine emotion and heartache from the typically cold nature of electronic music.
AFTERGLOW is an album that plays out with sublime majesty and class, a moody and atmospheric record that sets out to take you on a journey, dropping you off at a place you may not be expecting but will be glad you've reached.

BIOGRAPHY
From the deliriously frazzled mind of Martin Wheeler comes Vector Lovers, a self-confessed manga mad computer nerd and eighties obsessed knob-twiddler who has produced one of this years most irresistible albums with his eponymous Soma debut. The Vector Lovers sound encompasses beautifully emotive electronica and raw alien future funk. Bring on the droids…
“Vector Lovers has hit on a sound that’s more relevant than 99% of modern electronic music…inspirational, essential and as much a landmark release as Hacker & Kittens ‘Frank Sinatra’. Richard Brophy (DJ magazine) Born in Reading, now residing in the same street in York where Frankie Howerd was born, Vector Lovers unique production style is winning him fans across the globe. With nods to musical influences such as Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and early synth pop to The Happy Mondays, Velvet Underground and My Bloody Valentine. Nowadays Vector Lovers is listening to modern electronic geniuses like Isan, Boards Of Canada and Aphex Twin, and labels like Toytronic, AI and Ghostly International. This release is also a new direction for Soma with its deep and dreamy electronic lullabies.
His other obsessions are Robots and Japan, and the album flows like a sonic journey through a futuristic metropolis where humans and droids live in harmony. The delicately skewed mechanical love of ‘Girl & Robot’ and sentimental hankering of ‘Kissed You By The Fountain’ will sooth your circuits, while the scuzzy energy of ‘Funk & Droid’ evokes an image of a demented neon fizzing disco. The superb artwork has also been done throughout by Martin, evidently a man of many talents.
Vector Lovers came to Soma’s attention through his own Iwari.com label and his two limited single releases, the ‘Roboto Ashido Funk EP’ and the 7” ‘Electrobotik Disco / Girl & Robot’. These two releases were big sellers in Glasgow’s specialist record shop Rub A Dub and Martin also performed a live set at Paisley’s legendary Club 69. An endorsement to his music if ever there was one! The Iwari.com label continues to release the best in electronic music with recent releases from Scape One and Namke Communications. A Soma connection was coincidently revealed when Fenetik artist Sidewinder announced he was friends with Martin from when they both lived in Reading in the early 90’s. The two restored communication and Martin soon became the latest signing on Soma’s ever-expanding roster. Iwari also means ‘drunken corruption’ in Japanese…he was always going to get on well with the Soma crew!
The ‘Roboto Ashido Funk EP’ was re-mastered and re-released as the first single from the album to critical acclaim. With Tom Magic Feet declaring it was “An underground classic…A must have.” And Kris Needs describing it as “moody glistening and innovative.” Following on, the new Vector Lovers single ‘Electrobotik Disco’ once again display the depths of his chaotic character, from Dalek inspired android anthems to timeless intricate melodies. This is a release guaranteed to satisfy a generation of mental mickeys! Future single releases will include remixes from man of the moment Claro Intelecto.
Vector Lovers has been touring his live set throughout cooler European venues and recently made his festival debut at the 15000 capacity Slam Tent at T In The Park which he tore the roof off.
Prepare to be transported to the extraordinary world of Vector Lovers.
