I CAN COUNT MUSIC

A compilation from London and Leeds based independent label I Can Count, I CAN COUNT 2 is a collection of music that runs the gamut from romantically inclined loveliness to cheesy electro pop to cool electronica with dynamic inventiveness.
Opening here with the Bowie-esque swooning downbeat pop of TAKE IT ALL by The Lost Levels, things get off to an impressively gorgeous start; all swirling atmospherics and delicately sung missives.  The by-the-numbers electro pop of Mr Bearsley's DYNO is less impressive though, basically the sound of Goldfrapp cross pollinating with Zero 7 to suitably dull sounding results.  The equally dire DON'T BE AFRAID TO SWEAT from Miss Odd Kid is another misfire, a tacky MIA meets Lady Sovereign knock off that just pleads with you to hit that skip button.
It's fortunate that things manage to take a turn for the twistedly brilliant elsewhere here; 303DIDTHISTOME's frenetic electronic mish-mash APOSTROPHE APOSTROPHE, a definite case in point, a glorious collision between Sparks, Daft Punk and The Human League.  The equally delightful LESS AND LESS from Sportsday Megaphone keeps things fresh, inventive and vital; twee indie pop shot through with spry synth riffs and robotic programmed beats galore.
BRING ME LOVE'S UNWANTED ARROW by Coney Island Sound injects some heartbroken atmospheric dreaminess to proceedings whilst LIFE IN COLOUR from Humanboy is charming lo-fi folk that brings to mind the underrated genius of Frente! in its understated pop dynamics and emotionally rich underbelly.  Revox weigh in with the aptly titled EIGHTIES; all synthesizers, new romantic gestures and hairspray whilst the gloriously named Spaceships Are Cool offer up the awkward C86 indie pop of STRAWBERRY KICKERS, all very Fire Engines meets Heavenly down the local indie disco.
As a compilation that introduces you to a plethora of fresh new names that could well end up becoming your new favourite bands, I CAN COUNT 2 makes for near essential listening.  Sure, you may encounter the odd stumble or misfire along the way, but I CAN COUNT 2 makes the journey infinitely worthwhile.

BIOGRAPHY
We are an independent label and management company based across Leeds & London. The label is currently focusing on music that explores the marriage of the electronic and the organic. Electronic music with a human touch. The management side concentrates on bands/artists that we think are good.
We like artists with strong songwriting sensibilities, attention to detail and a love of texture, sounds and/or unusual structures. Great imaginative pop music is what we want.
We are releasing a series of limited edition compilations and 7" singles.
We are also looking for graphic designers and illustrators to collaborate with on designs for tees, other garments, pillows, mugs and other nice collectable things that enduce feelings of desire. We are always looking for creative people to work with.
