THIS ET AL - BABY MACHINE

" BABY MACHINE is a firmly assured debut album that announces This Et Al as a band capable of very impressive things; a heartfelt eruption of quality songs and frantic energy. "

FC RECORDINGS

A Yorkshire four piece who manage to plug the gaps between Bloc Party and Editors, This Et Al are a band creating epic sounding indie rock steeped in windswept emotion and stadium rocking aspirations.
Debut record BABY MACHINE is an album that soars and sweeps its way through eleven songs of grandiose indie rock, opening strong with the epic pronunciations of THE LOVELIEST ALARM, all understated beginnings as ethereal guitar lines shimmer their way around scattershot drum beats and throbbing basslines before the hyperactive power chords and yearning vocals kick in. The more energised WARDENS is a breakneck slice of indie rock, powerful guitar chords cutting through the metronomic drum patterns whilst the vocal melodies erupt in cryptic messages, flitting between Gang Of Four esque chants and anthemic indie rock melodies that hit their mark with laser targeted precision.
SABBATICAL is another quality tune, massive wall of sound guitar effects providing the songs musical backbone, This Et Al creating a noise that imagines Joy Division jamming with My Bloody Valentine and Explosions In The Sky. The soaring HE SHOOTS PRESIDENTS is reminiscent of the sorely missed Hope Of The States whilst OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE is the sound of Coldplay raised on a steady diet of Gang Of Four and Fugazi. CABIN HUM delivers downbeat trip hop into the mix whilst the searing YOU'VE DRIVEN FOR MILES (AND NOT REMEMBERED A THING) is an angular attack of shimmering guitar lines, frenetic drum beats and soaring vocals.
BABY MACHINE is a firmly assured debut album that announces This Et Al as a band capable of very impressive things; a heartfelt eruption of quality songs and frantic energy.

BIOGRAPHY
As Yorkshire's most incendiary offspring, This Et Al have proven that the slow-fuse often produces the most explosive results. Having previously been compared to My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai, Queens Of The Stone Age, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and Sonic Youth; the band announce the full release of their debut album; BABY MACHINE.
After releasing a handful of limited edition singles and compilation tracks on some of the hippest labels in the UK (Jealous Records, Dance To The Radio), This Et Al spent most of 2006 recording with producer Richard Green (Ultrasound, The Somatics) in his all-analogue Attic Studios in Leeds.
With the release of their debut long-player BABY MACHINE (FC Recordings/Cargo) this April, This Et Al uncover a world of savagery and disenchantment, a society rife with domestic abuse, police-corruption and drug-abuse, brilliantly encapsulated in uncompromising lyrics, soaring melodies, and heart-rendering performances. BABY MACHINE is a harsh and passionate journey into the paranoia of the new post-millenial underclasses.
BABY MACHINE is given a full release on Monday 9th April 2007 via their own label FC Recordings, distributed by Cargo Records. It's preceded by the release OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE (backed with double a-side THE MOTHER POSITION) as a 7" single on Monday 19th March 2007.
