These Monsters are one of those bands that are best experienced at ear shattering volume and late at night in a relaxed state of mind. Like previous post rockers Mogwai and Sigur Ros, These Monsters make music that works at its best floating over you and flowing through you, this isn't the kind of thing to be taken lightly, this is the kind of thing that requires commitment and your full attention.
These Monsters write songs that take their time to work their magic, lengthy passages of music, full of shimmering guitar lines that gently interweave amongst complex drum patterns and the subtle waft of brass orchestration.
New single TO SWING BACK AND FORTH WITH A STEADY UNINTERRUPTED RHYTHM finds the band taking their sound to new levels of sonic adventure; a brass heavy excursion into post rock that imagines Mogwai storming the rehearsals of some seaside brass band outfit, blasts of saxophone noise mingling with luscious guitar swathes.
A worthy addition to the post rock family, These Monsters are a band that can hold their heads up high amongst the likes of Sigur Ros, Mogwai and The Boards Of Canada, knowing that they're bringing something fresh and unique to the admittedly downbeat sounding party.
BIOGRAPHY
In their short time together These Monsters have garnered a storming and sterling reputation. They've made people forget to watch headline acts through extreme satisfaction in their supporting performance. They've gained slightly tapped fans who send them messages as if they're the best of friends. They've blown people away, and more than likely made just as many indifferent to their charms.
This release precedes two split These Monsters releases; one with Brenda, our friends from home (to be released September/October), and one with We vs Death our friends from abroad (to be released in the New Year). If things go to plan, there'll then be a single and a full album. After that, WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.
...and this is it, there's nothing more to say, but there's just enough to listen to. The world is watching. The world is waiting. The world probably wants another catchy-hooky-dancefloor-filler. But it won't get it, not here anyway. Please listen, please try to enjoy.
