TRACKLISTING
Sister Siam (Radio Edit) Sister Siam (Album Version) Sister Siam (Justin Robertson Vocal Mix) Sister Siam (James Rutledge Remix) Sister Siam Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya Remix)

Following a string of day glo dancefloor slaying singles over the past year, SISTER SIAM is the first single from Manchester duo The Whip to feel a little less than stellar.
This time round, attempting a more serious, downbeat style; the dour vocal melodies sit uneasily against the techno beats and blips, the song only ever really coming into its own as the bleeping technomadness takes over and The Whip transform into some Orbital meets The Chemical Brothers type hybrid. The various remixes here do a better job of presenting SISTER SIAM, Justin Robertson providing an extended techno makeover on affairs and Justin Rutledge indulging his robotic Detroit techno whims.
A passable entry into the whole new rave genre, SISTER SIAM is a single that just somehow feels a little tired sounding and derivative from the usually superb The Whip. A disappointing release from The Whip that only shows fleeting glimpses at their usual new rave genius.

BIOGRAPHY
"Those blokes muttering 'New Order' at the bar must somehow be aurally squinting at the electro kaleidescope of The Whip. They've missed the Numan, Klaxons, Rapture, Kraftwerk and Joy Division bits that make them the best thing to happen to dance music since James Murphy's delusions of time travel". NME live from Camden Crawl.
