Hailing from the east coast of the UK, four piece The Sam I Am are a band that manage to combine the early guitar noise of Sonic Youth with the schizophrenic melodicism of the Throwing Muses, with a bit of PJ Harvey, The Stooges and Be Your Own Pet thrown in for good measure.

Going from strength to strength, latest single YOUR CONSCIENCE OR MINE finds the band taking all the very best bits from the Throwing Muses, Echobelly and The Breeders and throwing in some Pixies-esque guitar shapes.  With a healthy dose of infectiously hook laden melodic charm, The Sam I Am produce the very best kind of effortlessly brilliant indie rock noise, Natasha Fox howling gleefully over thrusting guitar riffs and pulsating drum beats, giddy on the power of music.

The Sam I am are from Southend on Sea, England and started in the summer of 2004 when Natasha and Mark began writing, playing and hanging out in the basement studios under the hall of mirrors on Southend Sea front. They met Daryl & Toby in January 2005 and immediately started playing the small venues around Essex, honing their huge live sound. 

Their music is abrasive and melodic. One minute explosive, dramatic and incessant, the next, shy, personal and intense. 

Natasha sings with an intensity and passion that pushes you onto your heels and demands that you pay attention, the beauty in her voice is only matched by her power, her intensity off-set by her gentle 'between song' demenour. Mark Saunders and Toby Gore smash the rhythm section into your brain leaving a Fugazi size hole where your conscience used to live, while Daryl, wired to his bag of pedals, nag nag nags at you with guitars from planet schitzoid. 

Cranking up their craft live The Sam I am then turn to recording their sound onto tape. After a few sessions in local studios the band hole themselves up at 2khtz studios in April 2006, in the glamourous West London suburb of Willesdon Junction, set next to a 6 acre cemetry the 48hr recording session produces the bones of the AA single I Told You/We Are The Enemy that is being released on Senf Records© in September 2006.
