NEDE
Taken from debut album DO IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT;a record that announces The Random as a band producing tightly crafted pop songs that bristle like Green Day getting up close and personal with The Jam, latest single TONIGHT is another slice of urgent, melodic punk pop.
With TONIGHT, The Random do the whole punk pop thing beautifully, dropping in all the right riffs and nuances with deliciously paced precision - Mick Beirne bashing out those powerchords and hitting the choruses with a mixture of teenage angst and aggressive poise; even if the band practically steal the melody from Green Day's Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) for their own purposes here.
Big, bouncy punk pop that finds The Random delivering hook laden melodies and crashing power chords aplenty, TONIGHT may not bristle with originality or fresh ideas; but its sure to have you singing along all the same.
BIOGRAPHY
THE RANDOM, great big no-nonsense, giant chorused music for the masses, with glorious hooks and choruses that anyone can hum..... While their tracks are musically diverse they all have one thing in common - they are written and performed by The Random, a band that have a great live reputation with their upbeat melodic sounds and heartfelt vocals.
THE RANDOM ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF THEIR DEBUT ALBUM "DO IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT" the debut album from The Random is released on 24 June 2007 and the first single off the album "TONIGHT" will be released on 18 June 2007.
"You're the best looking audience we've played for" beams frontman Mick Beirne, "give yourselves a round of applause". Its not just the charm that The Random are laying on tonight. Sounding immediately familiar, its clear that this rocking four piece have something different, effortlessly combining fun with sheer expertise as well as the odd quick beverage along the way. "Do It Like You Mean It" is sock rocking stuff whilst "Harmonica Song" is a yearning slice of melancholy. The Random's diversity explodes with "Maggie", a gut -bursting punk number and a mating call for all inebriated dancers. Whilst Beirne has a glint in his eye its clear that he believes in his band. As the night draws on and the windows steam streams onto the sills ,one last question for the lads..."Describe The Random in five words". Guitarist Tim Eyles counts, "The most fun you can have with your clothes on." "That's ten words" laughs Beirne. "We can't get everything right" jokes Eyles. The Teo Miller Produced Album is released on 24 June 2007.
The Random are four young men who quite frankly couldn't care less about fashion, about musical trends, about all the hype and manufactured angst surrounding certain "artistes" we could mention. After all when you've got a guitar in your hands and you're not afraid to use it who cares what colour your shoes are? Give us substance and energy over style any day of the week (and you can quote us on that).
What we do care about are the songs. We're talking about big songs with big choruses that you can sing along or wave a lighter to. Songs with hearts on their sleeves and soul in their melodies and passion in every stride. Songs that strike a chord with everybody who's ever sweated or laughed or cried. Songs that sound instantly familiar yet transcend the ordinary. Songs that are perfectly capable of floating like butterflies or stinging like bees but are much more likely to buy you a pint instead.
Yes, the world needs The Random - and your heart and ears will soon tell you why.
