" The Mighty Roars make a sound that's bruised, brilliant, vital and fresh and with DADDY OH give you another valid reason to take them straight to your heart. "

ONE LITTLE INDIAN RECORDS

Hailing from Sweden and London by way of Berlin, three piece female fronted indie rockers The Mighty Roars are a band with real teeth, a blistering combination of the Pixies, The Breeders and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs; frontwoman Lara Granqwist howling excitably against thrusting guitar riffs and powerful drum beats.
Lifted from debut album SWINE AND COCKEREL, latest single DADDY OH finds The Mighty Roars approach matters at breakneck speed, all punk rock guitars, frantic drum beats and screeching vocals.
A breakneck slice of joyous indie guitar rock, DADDY OH is an effortlessly brilliant slice of guitar driven pop that skips along on skewed guitar jerks and off centre rhythms.
The Mighty Roars are a trio delivering upfront melodic indie rock that bridges the gaps between the Breeders, Veruca Salt and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
A band to cherish and adore, The Mighty Roars make a sound that's bruised, brilliant, vital and fresh and with DADDY OH give you another valid reason to take them straight to your heart.

BIOGRAPHY
The Mighty Roars release their debut album, SWINE AND COCKEREL on the 16 April on One Little Indian: a rollicking rock 'n' roll ride chaining, if you will, a PVC-clad Debbie Harry to a whip-cracking Karen O. Oh yeah. (Enough already.)
SELLOTAPE opens with Lara Granqvist's scratchy vocals rodeo-riding punky guitars. "It's about a leather-clad tattooed turbo-bitch with a six minute attention span," she says. "But underneath her poor little heart is held together with sellotape." Upcoming single DADDY OH (released 2 April) is up next, building a catatonic vocal around spiky guitar thrashes: "It's about a girl who thinks she's it," says drummer David Pringuer. "She finds a boy she deems worthy of meeting her father, he's a bit kinky and she calls him 'Daddy." When the boy meets Daddy things happen and it's party, party, party." In '06 the band was jolted into the studio by a suicidal 'Whale' in the Thames. Using the beast as inspiration they belted a chaotic pop song out of it, complete with magpies in verse two. KISS IT is a breakneck-speed riot of thrashes and screams: "I suppose it's about mortality and chance," says David. "People whining and whinging, they can all kiss it!" FUNKY MACHINE is an ode to Lara's mum who, after being on the dole for ages, finally got a job and a new suit. The track is driven by her daughter's ecstatic yelps and bolshy guitars. David says: "We don't know what the horse is doing in it, but they are under-represented in the modern pop tune - so why not?" JUDE & SIENNA showcases a downbeat side to the Roars' canon: it's a brutal analysis of modern relationships played out with shimmering guitars that build to a devastating climax.
The Last Few Months
A radio tour culminated in them getting severely spanked for saying 'fuck' and 'bugger' live on air, but they still managed to charm a host of top-notch stations: there was a live session on Jon Kennedy's Xposure show, plays on Radio 1, a victory on Steve Lamacq's Rebel Playlist and BBC 6's Marc Riley clambered aboard. After a string of London dates including a particularly fantastic gig at Koko's Club NME, the band headed East for a successful tour of Germany and Austria. The grand finale was at an art deco porn cinema in Graz: "Fortunately, the audience were not middle aged men in deep-pocket-coats expecting a grot-fest," says David.
The Potted History
The Mighty Roars met in Berlin in early 2004, united by a desire to surf the London new wave with style. Singer Lara hails from Sweden, whilst Martin Pilkinton (guitar) and David (drums, bass) are both from London. Signed to Munich's Little Teddy Records in Feb 2005, they released their debut EP, TAKE A BITE OF PEACH to critical acclaim. Although not officially released in the UK, copies on sale or return sold out thanks to great reviews from Rough Trade shops and Artrocker. It was in late '05, after a belting Camden gig, that One Little Indian signed them.
