THE LOW MIFFS - EARL GREY / THIS IS THE NEW

"Energised indie pop from a band with an endless stream of ideas"

ART/GOES/POP

Dark, spiky indie rock from a Glasgow five piece raised on Talking Heads, German Theatre and Sherlock Holmes, The Low Miffs are a band making music that jerks, jitters and shakes in a wired and wiry way.
With new double a-sided single, EARL GREY / THIS IS THE NEW, they sound like a band with refreshingly short attention spans, crafting songs that shift in style with every passing second; EARL GREY for example, a three minute indie pop tune that imagines Rush jamming with Babyshambles and the Kinks in some dingy Glasgow basement. Theatrical vocals dance around stabbing guitar riffs and constantly shifting song structures, The Low Miffs creating music that whilst maybe not life changing, certainly holds your attention and keeps you intently interested. THIS IS THE NEW is another spiky indie pop affair, its Libertines meets Pulp meets XTC wired melodicism demanding your attention throughout.
Energised indie pop from a band with an endless stream of ideas, EARL GREY / THIS IS THE NEW is a healthy indication that The Low Miffs are a band well worth watching.

BIOGRAPHY
The Low Miffs are from the year 2004. Having destroyed "Rock 'n' Roll" in the previous year, they spent a very silent summer wishing they hadn't. This is therefore their attempt to atone for this error of judgement. They often play in Glasgow, on instruments. They have a few songs. They're really nice.
The Low Miffs formed in Glasgow, during the winter of 2003. There are five members of The Low Miffs.
The Low Miffs perform dramatic, innovative pop music, slightly terrifying audiences throughout Britain. Inspired by German theatre, Talking Heads, Sherlock Holmes and Takashi Miike, and primarily by an overwhelming desire to create exciting new music, The Low Miffs believe it is of the utmost importance that every iota of energy is expended during a live performance, with cavorting of every kind taking place on drum kits, amplifiers, tables, bars, and on occasion, the stage.
The Low Miffs songs deal with such disparate subjects as 18th century politicians, money, Nietschze and, well, songs. Perhaps best summed up by The List, who described The Low Miffs as 'Jon Pertwee meets Stockhausen.'
