THE BRENT FLOOD - THE BRENT FLOOD EP

" Nothing particularly stand out or inspired, The Brent Flood are rather a good, solid indie rock outfit with a bunch of decent songs to their name. "

THE BRENT FLOOD - THE BRENT FLOOD EP
Heavy Petting / Burn / Lifebelt / Digging Holes / Beverley
SELF RELEASED

Sitting somewhere between the serious rock earnestness of Creed and the twee indie jangle of The Bluetones, South Londoners The Brent Flood are a band making music that covers all the modern rock basics.
At the heart of things, this is by-the-numbers indie rock territory, THE BRENT FLOOD EP a collection of songs unlikely to have you gaping slack jawed in amazement at the originality of it all. Songs like HEAVY PETTING and BURN are a mixture of impassioned vocal crooning, solid power chords and steady drum beats; Jay Marsh coming on like a cross between Scott Stapp and Eddie Vedder, launching into soaring melancholy at regular intervals. The pretty guitar work of LIFEBELT suggests a certain emo influence to The Brent Flood, tight rhythms and taut grooves providing the musical backbone, the erupting choruses all barrelling power chords and anthemic melodies.
Elsewhere, DIGGING HOLES is a decent slice of average sounding indie rock and BEVERLEY, a song that sees The Brent Flood bringing together The Killers and Nickelback for a satisfying if generic alt-rock climax.
Nothing particularly stand out or inspired, The Brent Flood are rather a good, solid indie rock outfit with a bunch of decent songs to their name. THE BRENT FLOOD EP makes for satisfying listening, even if you will have heard it all before.

BIOGRAPHY
The Brent Flood are South London's purveyors of Indie Sunshine: a unique brand of progressive indie rock characterised by pointed hooks and jam-band grooves, boisterous energy and melodic sensibilities.
It sound like this: Jay Marsh's melancholic vocals sit between precise, sweeping guitar lines and Rob Chesterman's punchy riffs that swagger and soar by turns. The tireless rhythm quarters of Eddie Stalsberg on bass and Chris Chesterman on drums fuse funk impulses with indie chic and sticky rhythm with honest rock.
Taking their early cues from The Smiths, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley, the band cite Interpol and British Sea Power as current influences. With an Anglo-Irish heritage and almost a decade of gigging experience in the UK and Ireland, the product is a versatile and engrossing live show that has seen the band support James Blunt in Bristol and play several headline slots at London's Clapham Grand.
The Brent Flood's self titled EP will be released on March 5th 07 & will be available from i tunes, Napster, Tune Tribe, Virgin Digital & from their official website www.thebrentflood.co.uk
