A Bristol based four piece who write songs that take all the best bits of The Throwing Muses, Echobelly and Belly, distilling them into dizzy three minute nuggets; Santa Dog are a female fronted pop group with elegance.
With debut album, KITTYHAWK Santa Dog make good on all that early promise shown on their early EP's, delivering a collection of jaunty indie pop.  Opener, BIG BANG is a case in point, a jangly pop tune that allows frontwoman Rowena Dugdale to flex her sweetly sung vocals and hit the choruses with sassy precision.  BELLE DU JOUR is another spirited slice of upbeat indie pop; Santa Dog unleashing joyous melodies and big bouncy guitar riffs, a sun soaked pop song for the summer months ahead.
The playful YEAH YEAH YEAH finds Santa Dog keeping things spirited and twee, a C86 janglefest that shares the odd musical similarity to the likes of Belle And Sebastian, Heavenly and Frente.  With CHEMICAL, the band show off a slightly harder edge; clipped guitar chords and dirty riffs rubbing up against a more edgy sounding Rowena Dugdale, her voice exhibiting a huskier, darker sounding tone.
The less impressive WEST COAST BOY RACERS feels a little too twee and cutesy to reach the same heights, a fate shared by the similarly themed KATY; songs that sound a little too middle of the road and average to hold the attention.  POP COLOURED is a more inspired step, a low slung indie pop tune that sees Santa Dog revelling in slow burning majesty and quietly anthemic bravado.  Closing number, MARTYR ON THE ROPES finds the four piece opening up their sound and embracing a more complex musical direction, embracing sun drenched sixties pop, low slung guitar grooves and energetic vocal chants.
An impressive sounding debut record, KITTYHAWK is the sound of Santa Dog delivering joyous indie rock that somehow makes life seem just that little bit better.

BIOGRAPHY
Santa Dog play sparkly, sassy, summer-soaked pop with chiming guitars and a sinister perimeter. Think Blondie going two rounds with the Throwing Muses on the edge of a cliff with a stiff breeze whipping up skirts and causing mischief and you're still nowhere near capturing the band's distinctive sound and uniquely English charm.
This Bristol-based four piece have self-released three EPs to much critical praise, received airplay from Radio 1, Kerrang, XFM, played live sessions for regional BBC radio, and collected a dizzying number of live shows under their belt ranging from festivals to indie clubs, industry seminars to serenading the monkeys at Bristol Zoo.
Internationally they have showcased at Canada Music Week in Toronto, played Fleche D'or in Paris, been featured on NPR America's coveted All Songs Considered OpenMic, playlisted on selected college radio, invited to play US tour dates, and selected for an exciting new Japanese label compliation.
The debut album Kittyhawk will be released in the first week of June 2007 on Japanese label Quince. Details of distribution and import in UK, USA and Europe soon.
Also look out for the debut single - released in the UK in May on 7" vinyl and digital download through new London indie SoundsExperience
