TRACKLISTING Sound The Alarm Belly Dancer Whilst Sandira are a band whose make up is pulled from as diverse a cultural melting pot as Brazil, New Zealand, Portugal and Italy by way of London, the music they make is unfornutaley not nearly anywhere as exotic.
Latest single, SOUND THE ALARM is your typical middle of the road indie rock; all crashing power chords and so so melodic anthemics that whilst pleasant enough in a comforting kind of way, hardly excite or enthral. Frontwoman, Sandira possesses a decent enough Patti Smith like vocal howl, but its somewhat wasted here on a song that never really does it any justice, SOUND THE ALARM an ultimately forgettable and by-the-numbers affair that lacks enough of an idividual edge or uniqueness to really impress.
BIOGRAPHY
"Hanging on the Wire" is the second record from this multi-national indie rock punk outfit Sandira. Set for release early November, it follows their debut, sold-out ep entitled "BloodRose". "Hanging on the Wire" is a high energy, punchy guitar driven classic that was recorded with the blessings of Pete Skank at Corrupt drive studio and delivers an unforgettably catchy, radio-friendly slice of PJ Harvey/ Patty Smith fuelled rock that epitomises classic guitar riffage. This "sound of an era" comes from recording live in one take to catch the vibrancy of thier act.
Lead Vocalist: Sandira herself (from New Zealand) is a brilliant multi- percussionist with Arabic leanings in both vocal licks and rhythms and a deep love of Indie, and new wave song structure. She grew up playing percussion with The Shamen, Loop Guru and William Orbit. She has sidelined her percussive skills to shine as rhythm guitarist and Lead vocals (evoking PJ Harvey in power and emotional vocabulary). Through line up changes and the decision to ditch the percussion and acoustic guitar, Sandira has developed a high energy, punchy guitar based sound.
