ROSEMARY - IF I HAD MY WAY
If I Had My Way
SPLIT RECORDS
The latest slice of eccentric indie guitar pop from Dartford trio Rosemary, download only single IF I HAD MY WAY sees the band further developing their sound in ever more interesting directions.
Striking with an immediate sense of English pop classicism, Rosemary have a sound that has its roots in bands like The Kinks, The Who, Blur and Pulp but also a sense of freshness and uniqueness that soon sets them apart.
IF I HAD MY WAY is a punchy sub three minute racket that's all excitable guitar riffs, lively drum beats and odd melodies. Tim Hill delivers his usual off kilter vocals, kind of Pete Doherty meets Ray Davies meets Perry Farrell; launching into surreal lyrical avenues and joined by equally oddball backing melodies.
Another slice of dynamic, surreal, original indie pop from Rosemary, IF I HAD MY WAY is surely just another step on this bands inevitable rise to stardom.
BIOGRAPHY
London, July 2006. This August sees the first ever single release from Dartford three-piece Rosemary. Entitled SUBURBAN KINGS the debut is a 3-minute taster of Rosemary's perfect balance between modern indie and classic 50s/60s pop, whilst on the b-side, FOR HE'S BLUE is an unheard track which showcases Tim Hill's distinctive vocal as well as the breadth of Rosemary's talent and appeal. To celebrate, the band are holding a launch party on the day of release, Monday 7th August, at The Pleasure Unit, Bethnal Green, London E2.
Rosemary are Tim Hill (vocals & bass), Martin Brett (vocals & guitars) and Jon Chamberlain (drums) who all met whilst studying at North West Kent College. Their classic, yet modern song writing and harmonies give the trio a new feel and an exciting edge. But though their overwhelming sense of Englishness - comparable to that of The Jam, The Beatles or The Kinks.
Having been championed by X-FM's John Kennedy, each of Rosemary's 3 demo EPs has received extensive play over the last year and despite still being unsigned at the time they have already recorded one live studio session at John's personal insistence, a second is set for broadcast during the week of release. Steve Lamacq has also recently thrown his weight behind the band on both his Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music shows, and they continue to get more and more radio play.
As their reputation continues to grow, Rosemary have secured their own residency night as Medway's legendary Tap'n'Tin (home of the record label and Libertines reunion gig). A very hard-working band, Rosemary have already toured and played with the likes of The Buff Medways, Long Blondes, Lupen Crook, Vincent Vincent, The Holloways, The Bishops, Ludes & King Harpoon amongst others.
