PANDAZ POP RECORDS
TRACKLISTING Meetoo Mel Gibson's...IRAQ! Continuing to impress with their multilayered indie rock madness, seven piece outfit Plans & Apologies return here with latest single, MEETOO.
This time round, opting for a more indie pop inspired direction, MEETOO feels like a Belle And Sebastian tribute at times, jangling guitar lines and shuffling drum beats playing beneath the fey sounding vocal melodies, all very C86.
MEETOO may lack some of the more surreal charm of early releases, but Plans & Apologies replace this with a much more focused and coherent attitude that suggests them a band with many more tricks up their many sleeves.
An outfit already sporting a fine line in twisted pop genius, MEETOO finds Plans & Apologies dialling back slightly on the twisted and concentrated on the pop genius part of the equation.
BIOGRAPHY
Twisted 7-piece jangle-pop outfit, Plans & Apologies, release their debut single SPIDERZ IN THE BAR (PART II) on Exercise1 Records (Jeremy Warmsley, A Million Billion) this Spring.
SPIDERZ IN THE BAR (PART II), has all the elements that have made Derby's Plans & Apologies underground favourites with the local music cognoscenti. They produce a well-crafted melodic pop sound that draws listeners in through its warmly intoxicating musicality, wordplay and wry storytelling.
Critical response to the band so far has been excellent, with Drowned In Sound awarding them 5/5 and Careless Talk Costs Lives magazine writing;
"the twee kids have got bulletproof vests on underneath their cardigans and, fuck me, it sounds good".
Aware that life might begin, but doesn't necessarily end in Derby, Plans & Apologies hit the road towards the end of 2005 looking to showcase their wares to anyone who was willing to give them a listen. After checking them out, Drowned In Sound described them as having
"spiky, sharp, intelligent, unruly, thoughtful, spontaneous, creative energy...they sound so genuine, so capable of anything, so fun."
The band now hope to bring their infectious enthusiasm and energy to a wider audience through their SPIDERZ IN THE BAR (PART II) release.
