An energetic mix of flamenco, hip hop, funk, reggae, latin and bhangra; Ojos De Brujo are certainly a diverse and multi layered bunch, a dizzying line up of singers and musicians onstage delivering TECHARI LIVE to life. Comfortably tagged under the general world music label, Ojos De Brujo are a band who for all their genre bending attempts, always fall back on their flamenco influences and Latin roots. An amazingly skilled live act, its here that Ojos De Brujo play up to their obvious strengths, the musicianship and general tight structure of the band an amazing thing to bear witness to. Songs such as RESPIRA, COLOR and RUNALI are spirited, energetic affairs that bring the live experience well and truly to life whilst an upbeat take on Bob Marley's GET UP, STAND UP is one of the records real highlights.
NO SOMOS MAQUINAS features lightning fast female raps and virtuoso piano and guitar playing whilst the rhythmic INTERLUDIO TABLA turns what is essentially a drum solo into a mesemerising and compelling affair.
With the whole thing repeated on DVD, you get to see just what a vibrant and visually stunning experience Ojos De Brujo are as well; add to this various documentaries, further live performances and video clips and TECHARI LIVE is a near essential purchase for anyone with even a passing interest in world music or for that matter good music in general.
BIOGRAPHY
The journey of Ojos de Brujo (ODB) started well before they began to know one other. In the depths of their previous experiences. In their fascination with the rhythmical treasures of the planet and the languages of flamenco. In 1999, the group recorded its first album, 'Vengue', and, going against conventional industry wisdom, they created their own structure and team for promotion, production, and recording of all future material...
