WORLD THREE RECORDS
TRACKLISTING New Human Anthem Chemical Drive Cyberpunk God Again False Prophet Coma Dead Alive Tear It Down Ultraviolent Light Forever Far Beyond A headache inducing clamour of metallic riffing and techno beats, New Project are a band who sound like the Deftones and The Prodigy getting down and dirty at some goth nightclub in Eastern Europe.
With album, ULTRAVIOLENT LIGHT, the band crank out a collection of songs that burst from the speakers in a violent explosion of intense noise. Opener NEW HUMAN ANTHEM is all growling vocal howls and ultra heavy guitar riffs, equal parts Napalm Death, Marilyn Manson and The Prodigy. That New Project never deviate from this formula is perhaps the real downfall of ULTRAVIOLENT LIGHT as an album, songs like CHEMICAL DRIVE, GOD AGAIN and FALSE PROPHET basically variations on the exact same themes, New Project instilling a real feeling of deja vu on every song here.
There's nothing on ULTRAVIOLENT LIGHT that suggest New Project are offering anything particularly new or awe inspiring, if you've ever listened to a Ministry or Nine Inch Nails record, you've pretty much heard anything New Project are delivering here.
Not necessarily a bad record, ULTRAVIOLENT LIGHT is just very much a predictable and over familiar sounding experience; by the time you get to the likes of TEAR IT DOWN and closing number FOREVER FAR BEYOND, you can practically predict every move New Project are about to make. As pummelling techno metal goes, ULTRAVIOLENT LIGHT is a decent sounding record, just don't go expecting New Project to go offering up anything particularly fresh or original here.
BIOGRAPHY
Crushingly heavy, intense yet musical, New Project's music is a combination of abrasive screaming vocals, keyboards, samples, electronic beat loops, pounding heavy rock drums, thundering bass and a truly massive distorted guitar sound. When fused together, they create a newer, more interesting breed of heavy music, delivered to the listener as a strapdown injection of raw industrial metal.
New Project's songs are politically aware and contain social messages which demand the listener take back their mind from the grip of social control structures such as consumerism, the mass media, the government, and institutionalised spirituality.
New Project's music is spreading around the world, relaying the band's dedication to the music and the messages contained within. You have a choice - to listen, to join us, to rise up...or to be left behind.
