Finnish rockers Lines Of Leaving are a band bridging the gaps between emo and mainstream rock with their latest single IT'S NOT ABOUT US ANYMORE. If you think Panic At The Disco by way of Audioslave, then you'll perhaps not be a million miles off.
IT'S NOT ABOUT US ANYMORE is all very slick and earnest, Lines Of Leaving obviously pouring their hearts and souls into proceedings with every thrashing riff and impassioned vocal, but there's an underlying feeling that you've heard it all before here, this ultimately a band bringing little in the way of fresh ideas or individuality to the table. The similarly themed HOLLOW is another case of decent rather than great, with Lines Of Leaving again delivering the right amount of emo bluster but never really giving you anything you won't have heard countless times before.
An ultimately decent but unimaginative sounding band, Lines Of Leaving push all the right hard rock and emo sounding buttons, but with IT'S NOT ABOUT US ANYMORE, fail to really leave enough of an impression to thrill.
BIOGRAPHY
Playing catchy, melodic, politically aware and melodramatic rock, with ferocious guitar riffs, Lines Of Leaving has been making their marks to music industry since the band was formed in the end of 2003.
The band members decided to create a band that would feed its musical hunger from wretchedness of the world, from the weakness of a human being and from the distress of the whole world. The band didn't fit to any existing musical genres thus it combines styles from guitar-based rock to punk and heavy metal and even ethnic music, playing by the songs and never underestimating the listener. With every song they try to provide something new and interesting to the schooled and boring "mass-production" - music industry.
The band's intention is to have a part in fixing the common injustice, or at least to give the listener a moment of tranquility.
Many people who have attended their live shows have witnessed the effect of the pure energy and exaltation that the band gives out when they are on stage...
In 2006 the band played over 20 gigs (for example as a supporting band to numerous Finnish top-10 artists) and they also have been brought up by media for example MTV, numerous radio stations and in over 20 newspapers and magazines. Although several Finnish record labels have shown interest in the band, they decided to found their own independent record label Independent Sounds Oy in January 2007.
At he moment they are working on their first album with a famous "number one" - producer Jonas Olsson (also known from the Finnish bands such as Disco Ensemble, Deep Insight and Callisto). The first single from that album is due to be released in February 26th, 2007.
Many professionals from the music industry have predicated success and chart positions for both, the single and the album. And it's easy to agree with these predictions at least after you have seen them on stage...
