KRIS MORRIS

Another of those angst ridden singer/songwriter types, Kris Morris is an Australian artist strumming a battered acoustic guitar and singing in a voice that makes him sound like he's on the verge of major emotional breakdown at any moment.
With all that in mind, the LITTLE LIGHT EP does make for pleasingly pleasant listening at times, opening track BROKEN in particular managing to get under the skin and leave a lasting impression.  Imagine a slightly darker, slightly more neurotic take on Crowded House and you'll be somewhere close to where Kris Morris is coming from here.  It's a bit of a shame that the rest of the material doesn't quite hit the same highs, songs like BIGGER THAN ME and CLING TO YOU, dull sounding ballads that pass by with little drama.  The evocative slide guitar licks that permeate title track LITTLE LIGHT herald better thing though, Kris Morris showing off his emotional intensity in a song that rivals Ray LaMontagne for gravel throated rustic authenticity.
The LITTLE LIGHT EP finds Kris Morris providing brief glimpses of a huge potential, a release that when firing on all cylinders suggests this Australian singer/songwriter capable of very impressive things.

BIOGRAPHY
Kris Morris grew up in a coastal town just north of Sydney in Australia. It was a lovely place but the call of the bright lights and big smoke beckoned and hence a move to London was inevitable.
With influences such as Bob Dylan, Neil Finn, Ray Lamontagne and Ryan Adams, the sound that has emerged is a dynamic mixture of country, folk and blues. Throw in themes of hope, faith and redemption, and the result is a bunch of memorable tunes delivered with masses of passion.
Kris himself explains ‘ I had the songs I wanted to record which I’d written through the last half of 2006. The songs sum up a season of my life which in some ways I’d prefer to forget but in retrospect I know did me a lot of good. Its a pretty honest little EP but there are glimpses of sunshine in there - just a little light you might say.’
The Little Light EP captures the heart of the journey - hopes, fears, tears and that little glimmer you catch when you can sense the way out.
