With her latest release, HOT-AIR BALLOON, Kat Vipers continues to engage and intrigue. Title track HOT-AIR BALLOON is a little less extreme than usual, Vipers perfectly balancing PJ Harvey and Kate Bush here on a slice of charming pop that hints at a more mainstream, accessible side that's previously lain hidden. JUST LIKE JERRY LEE is a return to the more frenetic sound we've heard before, Kat Vipers pounding at her piano like the Tasmanian Devil and screaming and wailing like a banshee. Elsewhere Kat Vipers indulges in some excessive vocal gymnastics on WASTING TIME and GOT A NEW DOG BLUES.

Kat Vipers continues to compel and intriguing with HOT AIR BALLOON, a singer/songwriter who most definitely stands out from the crowd. She may be something of an acquired taste with her melodramatic vocal gymnastics and frenetic piano bashing, but once again proves her individuality and originality here on a collection of songs impossible to ignore.
