A singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor, poet and artist, Johnny Flynn is something of an all round talented individual.
ODE TO A MARE TROD DITCH is his second single with band The Sussex Wit and with a blend of folk, country and blues, Flynn is someone well worth keeping an eye on.  EYELESS IN HOLLOWAY sees Flynn mark himself out as the missing link between Sufjan Stevens, Conor Oberst and Devandra Banhart, a jauntily plucked acoustic guitar keeping time whilst a fiddle suggests bluesgrass roots and Flynns folky vocals maintain an earthy air of individualism.  With similar ingredients, flipside OH TO EAT AN APPLE finds Johnny Flynn on equally impressive form; an effortless lesson in quirky folk whimsy.

BIOGRAPHY
Johnny Flynn is a rather special individual.  A jack of all trades, and master of each, he is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor, poet and artist.  Rejecting the traditional dichotomy of successful actors with unsuccessful musical ventures, and vice-versa, Johnny has an admirable habit of making whatever he turns his hand to look easy.
Ode To A Mare Trod Ditch is Johnny’s second 7” release on Young & Lost Club, on June 18th 2007.  In a similar format to his debut release, The Epic Tale Of Tom & Sue, it’s a two-act suite comprising of the songs ‘Eyeless In Holloway’ and ‘Oh, To Eat An Apple’.
Inspired by time spent in New York discovering artists such as Dianne Cluck and Jeffery Lewis - and informed by the circle of current emerging singer-songwriters with whom he has often performed such as Emmy The Great, Patrick Wolf and Jeremy Warmsley – Johnny, with the able assistance of his band The Sussex Wit,  writes and performs an exquisite blend of bluegrass and country.
Much of Johnny’s time in between these releases has been spent touring the world as the lead in the Old Vic’s productions of ‘Twelfth Night’ & ‘The Taming Of The Shrew’ – performing twice a day before playing gigs later in the evening.  If that wasn’t enough work for one man, he also found time to do all the artwork for Ode To A Mare Trod Ditch, write the accompanying poem and shoot and edit the video for ‘Eyeless In Holloway’ himself on location in Hong Kong, Australia and New York.
In the pipeline for Johnny Flynn this summer are a soon-to-be-announced record deal, and a host of live dates to showcase his bewitching talent.
