Main Review:
Interpol’s third album makes you sit up. It makes you want to listen; to understand; and leaves you with a somewhat quiet clarity upon its climax. The distinct vocal tone within, draws a vivid picture of a lyricist recalling a long and winding story; tired from hours and hours of explaining their message to another. This imposing but graceful sound is present in a truly evocative and guitar heavy record, that feels enormously stripped down to just its musicians, and emotions; which thus enhances the sense of sincerity attached to each song. Noteworthy tracks include All Fired Up which will power through your speakers in an aggressive and haunting fashion; whilst Mammoth marks itself out as an impatient, angry and striking force, ensuring its rightful place deep in your memory. Pioneer To The Falls, initially a slower track, almost echo’s and drifts along on its course evolving and shifting, and will no doubt force you to reach out for the play button time and time again.
Biography:
A New York based rock/alternative band; Interpol loosely formed in and around New York University during the latter part of the Indie fuelled 1990’s. Various EP’s later and the band joined the Matador label, and went on to release Turn On The Bright Lights in 2002 and Antics in 2004. Antics in particularproved to be commercially successful, providing the band with three top 40 singles in the UK. Mid 2006 and Interpol signed to Capitol Records with Our Love To Admire being released on July 9th 2007, subsequently peaking at number 2 in the UK album charts. After playing the UK’s Carling Reading and Leeds Festivals, the band will return to the road visiting Canada and the United States; and returning to Europe in November.
