Hubb are a four piece who manage to sound like the missing link between Girls Aloud and Garbage, they may make predictable conveyor belt pop, but unlike so many of their similar sounding contemporaries at least sound as if they mean it, injecting a little soul and passion into proceedings.
With new single I LOVE YA, I DON'T EVEN KNOW YA, Hubb deliver the kind of mainstream pop tune that Britney would not doubt kill for right about now; this is upbeat bubblegum pop with crunchy powerchords and vocals that veer between shouty exuberance and teeny pop suss, frontwoman Lynsey Barrow managing to merge together all the important parts of Britney Spears, Hilary Duff and Girls Aloud into one neat package.
Far from groundbreaking, I LOVE YA, I DON'T KNOW YA is predictably typical stuff; fun, throwaway pop with just enough attitude to win you over. An enjoyably spiky debut.
BIOGRAPHY
I LOVE YA, I DON'T EVEN KNOW YA is the debut release from female fronted rock/pop outfit Hubb.
Lynsey Barrow is the dynamic front woman to the band HUBB a raw electric guitar based indie band with an attitude reminiscent of Blondie and Garbage.
Lynsey has been writing and performing in bands and as a solo artist for the past few years but never felt she had filled her full potential or found the right project.
Whilst working in the studio one day with co-writer Steve and experimenting with live electric guitars and drums, the unique HUBB sound has been created.
Teaming up with Steve (guitars) Phil (bass) and Graeme (drums) the band was completed. HUBB have developed into a forceful credible band.
On LOVE YA, DON'T EVEN KNOW YA, rock meets pop, creating a strong track with a catchy chorus. Lynsey is set to be 2007's new queen of the charts.
With strong support from Emap on the sensational video that accompanies the track, you're set to be seeing a great deal of HUBB in the New Year.
