Bee Stings are a four piece outfit who sound like they can't decide whether to be disco, scuzz rock, techno, pop or indie; so they've thrown caution to the wind and opted to be all five at once.
Releasing a three track demo that sounds ambitious and polished enough to launch them into stardom already, Bee Stings are making an impressive statement of intent here, the sound of a band with the confidence and attitude to succeed. Opening song PRESSURE (RUNNING AWAY) is an orchestral pop nugget that links the gaps between No Doubt, Goldfrapp and The Prodigy, the vicious guitar stabs and frenetic beats colliding on the explosive choruses.

MISADVENTURE blends a techno backdrop to summery indie-pop melodicism; frontwoman Valkyrie coming on like a sublime mixture of Alison Goldfrapp and Juliana Hatfield, you sense a real star in the making here.
The muted power chords and throbbing bass rumbles of MOST find Bee Stings making a more straight forward indie-rock racket, Valkyrie roaring and purring her way through the infectious melodies with relish and gusto.
A thrilling and infectious sounding glimpse of a band ready to take on the world, the only downside here is that you don't get to hear any more. An ambitious, accomplished and energised opening shot, Bee Stings are a band to watch.

BIOGRAPHY

Bee Stings aim for the extraordinary, and achieve it through over-ambition and a refusal to put up with anything less than sublime, twisted perfection.
If a track requires a brass quartet, a vintage 70s synthesiser or a veterinary surgeon then that’s what you will get.
Formed in 2003, the colliding tastes of pristine pop, experimental dance and dirty rock formed a unique maximalist pop music. Great songs are augmented but never obscured by sumptuous arrangements, bone-shaking beats and colourful production. Above this float the gorgeous vocals of Valkyrie who is able to coo like a dove or rage like a demon harlot as required.
Valkyrie and BB met when the latter propositioned the former. She turned him down, but a musical relationship blossomed. They were joined by Billy, an 80s hair metal refugee, and recently by Attila, an intense Hungarian drummer who once summoned Jimi Hendrix by ouiija board to move his kitchen table.
Bee Stings recently completed recording their debut album and will release their first single, Pressure Tank, in summer 2006.
