Managing to sound like a surreal combination of Marilyn Manson, Heaven 17 and the MC5, Babypinkstar make a noise that takes in electro pop, nihilistic rock attitude, scuzzy punk and pure pop. Here, teaming up with Bonnie Tyler to deliver their take on TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART, Babypinkstar unleash perhaps the strangest double act of 2007 so far.
Starting out as a straight forward take on the song, TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART is delivered as a slight disco update on the original; Bonnie Taylor crooning over a slick electro pop sheen. As Babypinkstar weigh in with their contribution, things take a turn for the more thrilling, the singer screaming out the lines, managing to sound like John Lydon crossed with Courtney Love, both suffering with laryngitis.
BabyPinkStar certainly make you sit up and take notice, and whilst TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART is a little more conventional and considered than you may have expected from the band, this marks a teaming up that deserves a look.

Too many shoe-gazing, teen-angsty, self-piteous wankers. Whatever happened to wanting to be on Top of the Pops? Whatever happened to be wanting to be on the cover of Smash Hits? Let's do something about it: Let's be Sweet and Adam and The Ants, Duran Duran and the Pistols. Let's write big, dumb sing-it-in-a-field-with-10,000-space-cadets tunes. Let's put on a fucking show...
And what a show it is. They hit the studio, recorded some stuff, talked to important people about becoming media whores and, in good old fashioned awkward and contrary style, BabyPinkStar released a Limited Edition 7" Pink Vinyl in April 2006, demand was such around their home city of Sheffield the band had to rush release their single I DON'T CARE.
The bands official debut single POSEUR is released in the summer and you can expect controversy, fun, glamour, sex, rock, fashion...welcome to our world.
The fans gather, packed, rammed and rocking just the way we like it. Underage fans dance their asses of in the rain outside while inside Tom bans the crowd from applauding. 'Let's put on a fucking show' screams Tom...welcome to the world of Babypinkstar.
Babypinkstar released a Limited Edition 7" Pink Vinyl in April 2006, demand was such around their home city of Sheffield the band had to rush release their download single I DON'T CARE to keep up with demand. Now the band are ready to take on the UK with their official debut single POSEUR.
If a band should come with a health warning, Babypinkstar would be heading the queue. A mix of techno beats, drums, guitar and genre crossing phases all overlaid with a throat shredding vocal and image to fit the hype.
