Warning - Green Day
track listings
This is Green Day's second single
from their new album "Warning". After the last single,
the disappointing, Levellers sounding "Minority",
this is Green Day back on good form. Not quite up to their
Dookie era material but still good stuff.
"Warning" finds a more mature sounding Green Day
than before moving slightly away from their punk sound into
newer territory. The song kicks off with a catchy sounding
riff that carries the whole song along on a good drum beat.
Billie Joe's vocals sound as good as usual, in his strange
sounding UK punk/American accent hybrid way. "Warning"
is a catchy song, it'll have you humming along for days afterwards.
It won't exactly have the kids going crazy in the mosh pit,
but it'll have the postmen up and down the Country singing
along.
Second track, "Scumbag" is typical old Green Day,
all punk power chords and sneering vocals, clocking in at
under two minutes, its classic punk pop.The cover of Husker
Du's I don't want to know if you are lonely, is faithful to
the original, but, when the original is so good why mess with
it. Billie Joe does a good Grant Hart impression as well.
Overall, not the huge crossover hit like "Good Riddance"
(time of your life) but a good tune nonetheless.
